How to start a photography business/studio?
I am trying to convince my dad to fund my potential photography studio business and he said he might help me but I have to develop a business plan first. I was just wondering if anyone on here owns their own photography studio or company and if they have any tips or help the could give me? How much does it cost roughly to start one? I am aware I would have to get the equipment like computers, back drops, cameras, etc. but how much would it cost to just start the business itself, like leasing a location getting a business permit, etc.? Thanks
Trying to start a photography business out of my home?
Ok so I am wanting to take photos of other peoples kids, and families, but I am having trouble with the pricing. I love how my photos of my kids turn out and I have many different backgrounds and some props, but not a real proffesional business or licence and all. I just need some advice on how much to charge people. Should I just charge like a session fee. I print all pictures through walmart.com so should I just take the photos and edit them and then give them to the customer all on a cd or should I print through walmart and charge them more than what I pay. Thanks for the advice...in advance

Can i claim my camera on my taxes for a return if I'm trying to start a photography business? ?
I am running a little " out of home" photography business in lane county, oregon..i've read online that in can claim my 'activity' as a hobby rather than a certified business for up to 5 years in order to prove whether or not it can be a profitable income....so...my question is....if i don't make much money through this 'activity' aka business...can i still claim my camera on my taxes? and what will that do? will they reimburse me or something? i have a friend who had an out of home computer business and he claimed his mileage and computer software on his taxes and it ended up to where it benefited him for his tax return. i just want to make sure i claim what i need to in order to verify my business when my 5 year time limit is up so i can get a business license. please let me know as i am so confused

How to start a photography business?
Hear me out. Obviously, this is not the best economy. However, in my local area, photography is still doing well. I know quite a few photographers that are booked up to their ears in appointments, all over the area I'm in. This isn't my first choice either. I tried to go into art school 2 years ago when I graduated high school, I couldnt afford it. I took a break from school all together for a year, I got it in my head that I would go for Medical Office Administration...it was an easy way to get out of the restaurant business. Last semester went ok, but as soon as I was in the Medical Terminology class this past semester, I could not do it. It wasnt something that would stick...I'm not a science inclined person. The whole semester went to crap because I was so overwhelmed now that i didnt know what to do. I've been avoiding the art field for some time now, because I was convincing myself that as long as I was " good" at my job, and it paid ok, I would be happy. All I have wanted was to have kids, the only thing I have ever been sure about, but kids dont remain kids forever...I do not want to look back and think I wasted my life away on a stupid job that I don't like at all. I have looked at EVERY option out there. I had my engagement photos done last week, I have known the photographer for almost a year now before we have even had her do work for us...and just watching her do her thing was so overwhelmingly amazing...I couldnt help but to think I want to be HER. I want to be SOMEONE, not a random receptionist that no one knows. I was heavy into the art classes all through high school, it was the only subject I ever cared about as far as grades. My uncle is a calligrapher, there's no doubt in my mind he can help me as well as possibly get me hooked up to some local people to learn more...he's always wanted me to use my talent as he says. I'm scared, worried, but I've been such a miserable person for the past year trying to do something that is not me. I cannot say i havent tried...I still want to go to the community college for some kind of associates in business or something related, so I at least have the resources to start my own business. I am getting married in August, so it's not like I am alone as far as finances...I can work elsewhere until I can get things going, even if it takes years. I'm trying to land a job in a photography studio that offers on the job training for photography...anything to help learn. Art is who I am, it's what I believe in...I need advice from anyone that has done this before and made it. Also I do have a camera, a Canon Rebel, and a lot of experience editing photos.
I'd like to start a photography business.?
I'm getting a camera. I'm looking to use it to make some money. Maybe not like a full time pay kind of thing, but some money i can use. I would like to do things like ask rock bands to pay $40, and get me admission to their concert and give them a CD with all the pictures i can take in a show. I'd like to do things like do a band photo shoot for $40 where i come to their location and take as many pictures as i can and give them a CD with all of them. What do you think? How can i further this business? Is that a fair price to ask of consumers? Any other suggestions or comments?
Starting a photography business?
What I'm currently looking to do is to start a brick and mortar establishment in a rather large city that would supply photographers with the best equipment imaginable. I already know a couple of people that would be customers but I'm not quite sure what the pitfalls of this sort of business is or what I would need exactly in order to start it. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks

Minor starting a photography business?
As im 14 years old, I want to start a small photography business. Next year I really would like to begin, but before I do, I want to make myself aware of the steps I need to do. Because im a minor, what fees are there, and who do I register myself with? Pretty much, where, when, and how do I start. I know that its not a great time to start, however, I do have a family willing to help and support me. Any information that I can understand would be greatly appreciated.
Starting a photography business: trademark or service mark?
I am starting a photography business and have some questions a Do I need to file a trademark or service mark for our company's name? I was told I can use the TM mark even if we decide not to registerb We plan on only doing business in California so is it necessary to file with the federal?c Another company on the East Coast not a photography company, they offer different services altogether has a portion of our name, can they sue us? Thanks in advance

Starting a photography business?
I'm interested in do photography for parties, proms etc. and other functions etc. Basically walking around taking snaps of people there. My current Sony NEX 5N isn't very powerful in low light. What would be some recommendations to improving this, or should I consider another camera, as in a full frame dslr. Also, what prices would you recommend for a night's worth of shooting plus a cd copy delivered.
