How do you become a professional photographer from scratch?
I'm 25 and have not been to college. I was thinking about going to school to learn photography. But I'm not sure how to get started. What program of study or major would I choice? How do you get hired as a professional? Is it expensive? Should I start saving up to buy an expensive SLR etc. Is this career worth it or should I just make it a hobby. I love taking pictures but have not had any training.

I want to become a professional photographer...but due to some things happening when i was 17...?
i haven't been able to finish high school...first of all that means i can't obviously attend any Univ. course on photography... even if i'd love to... and second, i'm not exactly sure i can even think of starting a career in that field.. with no high school degree, i mean...is there any chance i can still apply to become a professional photographer? please help... just a few more notes...i'm not exactly worried about how i'm going to " learn" the art of photography... my father and both my grandfathers choose the same career and they've been doing that for i don't even know how many years now... they can probably help me more than any random photography course...thing was, if i want to do that as a job... will it be a problem the lack of a high school diploma in my curriculum vitae?thank you so much for answering my question... btw i'm 19 now... and since i live in Italy... well, there's no GED here... sorry "
