What do I do about taxes in Texas on my photography business while a minor?
I am only 17 years old and I plan on beginning to charge for my photography services. I have tried filing for a Texas Sales and Use Tax Permit but I must be 18 in order to do so. What do I do about charging and paying taxes on my service, since I can not file for a tax permit?
Is it possible to start a small photography business from home with little equipment?
I have this big urge to buy a film & digital camera do a couple of photoshoots with some people i know & start advertising to do some small shoots or take some pics at a party of some sorts. I dont plan on it being super huge but just something to get me started. Any suggestions or advice?

i have recently started a photography business but i'm not sure what to charge. check out facebook.com pages Smphotography 244150958937453 i have been charging $100 flat rate. this includes, senior, family, couples, birthday party, engagement...everything. i take as many photos as i can. i edit anywhere from 30 60. and then i put them on a disc cd rom jpeg . i usually have it ready within 2 3 days. help.

So, im 14 and have a very small photography business. I'd like to incorporate my initials SMH if at all possible. It needs to be something very original and never thought of before. Right now, it's called " SMASH Photography" laaaame. Thankyou

Originally when I decided to start photography I named the business A. Theis Photography because my name is Amber Theis. My last name is pronounced " tice." I had posted an ad on a local wedsite offering photoshoots for budget friendly prices and someone messaged me saying " So is that your name or just a really f cking stupid play on the word atheist? Either way you wont make it here loser." Needless to say, I never had any intention of having people confuse my business name with the word atheist, so to keep any further potential customers from getting it confused id like to change it. Im doing photography in a military town, and I guess now that im going to change the name id like something a little more catchy. Semper Fi Photography is already taken. Any help would be appreciated Thank you

How can I make my photography business boom?I started my own business but am looking for ways to attract alot of new customers right now ive had only non paying customers that i've worked with because they are about as broke as me, i havent charged. I have to paying appointments bieng set up for fall, one wedding,one halloween mini. other than that i have no more customers. I have set up fan pages which aren't getting enough attention, word of mouth, and telling people I meet or see, other than this, how can I build this up and get more appointments so I can finally generate an income ? I feel kinda awkward just walking up to people and asking if they are interested in a photoshoot..... is that how most people do it? it just seems odd to me... I have thought about telling the parents at my kids school, but im not exactly comfortable with just walking up to people to offer my services.especially when the school is doing the same for school pics... what can I do??2 seconds ago 4 days left to answer.haha good advice thanks i have everything in the top half of what you said except cards, thats my next step

can i get sued for having a similar website design and similar name for a photography business in the same state? I just purchased a domain and design just to find out someone in the same state has it already I'm absolutely heart broken if i would have to change it, however if there are not any legal action that can be taken I would like to just keep it. There are a lot of similarities as far as the website goes and I am barely starting off and it seems this photographer is been in the business for a while? any advice??

Starting a photography business?
Hi everyoneI would like to set up a photography company and would like to find out which method will be best for me. This will be a side business for me and I already have a full time job attracting the higher tax bracket. My other half doesn't but will be helping me out too so hopefully there is a way to utilise this so I don't have to pay huge amounts of tax on all the profits and try keep it separate.I expect to make anything between 5000 and 10000 per year by doing a few jobs. Some of the companies require me to be registered as a business and some VAT registered too .Is it best to register as sole trader, limited company or going with an umbrella company? Would you recommend registering for VAT and setting up a seperate bank account?Any advise would be great.Thanks in advance....

I'm really considering doing photography on the side. Go out take some photos of weddings, senior portraits, prom photos, maybe selling some landscape photos. Do I have to register with the IRS and do all the formal stuff or can I just do everything " under the table" and do my own thing?
