I need help figuring out if a mystery shopping job is real?
I posted an add on craigslist looking for part time work and recieved this reply Hello, My name is James Linc, a business Merchandising. I just came about your email address through an online email listing and You have been selected for your first assignment as a Mystery Shopper.You will earn $500 by been a mystery shopper weekly. Your employment packet include business evaluation form, a training assignment which will be send to you after you received payment for the assignment.Paycheck would be sent to you for the assignment by Certified Company Check or money order. The paycheck would be $3,500, you are to deduct your $500 salary,and the rest would be used for the evaluation at the store that would be sent to you.Your Employment packet are as follows 1. Business evaluation form This is the form you are required to fill after you visit any shopping mall in your area, you would be given the store name and address. You are required to evaluate its customer service and quality control after their services are rendered to you. You would required to fill a form to rate the employee s , the form would be given to you after the evaluation 2. Training Assignment You are hired to evaluate the quality of services of the store or mall that would be given to you . You are needed to rate the employees. Please note, this is a part time activity.Email me the below details Name Last Name AddressLine1 NOT A PO BOX City State Zip Code Age Phone Number I will be looking forward to receive the above details.Sincerely,JamesI would be inclined to think it was semi real as I know there really are mystery shoppers out there, but it seems like a twist on the old " check cashing" scheme where they tell you to cash a check and wire them back part of the money and then your bank finds it to be a fake check and you have thousands of dollars to pay back. I emailed him back and said I was interested but needed more info, did the company have a name? A website? Any other info he could give me?What do you guys think, fake or not? How to tell?Thanks, my mind told me it was to good sounding but the part of me that needs money really wanted it to be real lol

Every mystery shopping job I see says that you have to pay $19.95, 29.95, etc, to apply. You shouldn't have to pay for a job unless you're starting your own business. Are they ALL scams?

Is this mystery shopping job check a fake?
I was just sent a certified letter that I had to sign for. It was a check from this corporation that I have been corresponding with regarding mystery shopping. I found this job opportunity in the newspaper's online job listings. The check was for 1600 dollars and I'm wondering if this is somehow a scam? I took the check to the bank and they said it was a viable check but that because it was so large they had to wait for it to go through before they gave me any of the money. I'm guessing because I didn't have the amount to cover it in my bank. They told me to send them an email confirming that the payment was received and that I would be told what my job assignment was after that. Is this legit?
