Prior to starting my own import export company I would like to get experience in the field. Should I work at another trading company in a clerical or sales position, or should I get licenced as a customs broker and work at a brokerage first? Working at a trading company would give me experience and perhaps contacts for when I start my own company. Working as a customs broker would allow me to learn all the ins and outs of importing and the various paperwork involved, perhaps giving me information on areas of opportunity. Also, as a licensed broker I could go into business as a dual customs brokerage trading company. Which is better?
