Could someone explain import/export rules to me?
One of many examples, Britain are the biggest importers of apples in the world or there about, $553 million in 2004 and China are the biggest exporters about 27 million tonnes . So say we import all our apples from China every year. That's many thousands of tonnes of apples. So what do we give China in return?Money?? but how can money work as a it would suck the money for our economy and b what does our money mean to China, all that adding money to their economy will do is raise their inflation as otherwise everyone would be to rich in China for supply and demand to meet. I could understand if we gave China 27million tonnes of oranges, but we have hardly exports, about 70 % of Britains industry is financial services. What i am getting at is it looks to me that we get various countries around the world to supply slave labour so that we can enough a nice tasty apple and or nice drink of cider or whatever we happen to import. What if China turn around next yea and say, " well we can't really be bother picking any apples this year...."

I have a connection over seas and we have been talking about how we may possibly be able to start some kind of importing exporting business together. I know we want to start small. We both has been doing it as a hobby basically selling buying things on eBay. I am looking to buy a moocher trawling reel from an American store found on Ebay but I am concerned about the import tax. The reel weighs roughly 17.2 oz and I was hoping someone can tell me how much this will cost to have exported over to Scotland.
