How does claiming day care costs when filing taxes work? What does that do? CONFUSED!?
OK so I figured it up and I paid $8,324 in day care for my son in 2010 OMG . So I was thinking about filing married but separate because my husband's tax return is always put towards a debt he owes. BUT if we file together I can claim my student loan payments which isn't that much... maybe about $600 and I can also claim the $8,324 in day care. Would I be reimbursed all of that daycare money??? That's a lot more than his debt anyway. Also we claim our 3 children. Just confused on exactly what it is to claim day care and how much of it I would actually get back. All input is appreciated.My bad I mean student loan interest... you know what I mean. lol

Regards to taxes (day care costs) do I only claim what i payed if the father payed half of daycare?
The father is court ordered to pay for half of child care. Do I only claim what I payed or all of it? My name is the only one on the daycare contract but the daycare does separate out what him and I have paid.lol paid
