Can an unregistered day care business sue me for unpaid balance?
For the last few months, my 4 year old son has been attending a daycare. About a week ago, we were notified by a parent of another child that attended the daycare that she suspected the owner of neglecting the children and that upon a search she found the provider was not license and did not even have a registered business with the state. We promptly removed our son from daycare and we simply refuse to pay the $200 bill for services we were lied to about. The daycare 'owner' is now threatening to take us to court over the matter. Seems like a small amount to even be taking someone to small claims court over but nonetheless... Can she win if she doesn't even own a real business and is not a licensed child care provider? Does she have any legal recourse at all?No offense, but who says I knew my 18 year old neighbor could sue me for that either? pretty sure that wasn't in my question. Thanks for the information though. I'm going to call her bluff over a $200 account. Worst comes to worst, we'll pay it. But I'm not happy about the situation. Also, the sign out front says " Michelle's Day Care, LLC." I'd say that's a misrepresentation.

Hypothetical day care insurance cost?
I noticed someone else had asked the question of how much insurance could cost for a home run day care and I am wondering the same. If there is a website anyone knows of who gives free quotes yet doesn't ask for personal information that would be awesome
Should a home day care be expected to arrange meetings outside of operating hours?
I had someone inquiring about child care in my home. I have one spot open, 3 people are interested in it, this one lady is one of the 3. She and I had been emailing back and forth and she seemed very interested in me, and wanted to set up a time to meet. She wanted to bring her husband, which I TOTALLY understand. I mean, when I was looking into childcare, I always brought my husband with, too. But the problem isn't that she wants to bring her husband, but that she wants to bring him after my daycare hours. She flat out said if it was a problem that she'd just come herself without her husband during the day, but she'd prefer her husband to be with. Fine. She emailed me and said she wanted to bring him anytime after 6pm on the weeknights. I almost agreed but then really thought about this if she arrived right at 6pm, I begin to get my kids ready for bed at 6 30, by the time they are bathed, story'ed, all that bedtime routine, it's 7 30 and time for them to go to bed, and then it's clean up the kitchen after supper time for myself and my husband. So there is really no time to meet properly in the evening. And after the kids are in bed would not work because I would not want them to wake up.So I emailed her back and told her that she and her husband could come anytime next weekend during the day, or she could come during the week during the day so we could have a proper visit and discuss things, and then she could come again another time and bring him...but that I could not have a proper meeting with the both of them after supper. I told her that the most time I could give her any evening was half an hour, from 6 00 to 6 30. So basically, I can have a meeting with both of them over the weekend, or with her alone during the day and then another meeting with both of them in the evening, or just one very short meeting with both of them in the evening. It has been 3 days and I have not heard back from her. I am just wondering if my inability to meet with both of them for a long period after supper is what drove them away? I mean really, if you think about it, if you have a business, you run set hours. You generally don't open your business after hours when you have already been open 12 hours during the day. IMO they should be grateful that I am willing to meet with both of them on a weekend and even 30 minutes at night. When my husband and I searched for child care, I would visit first, and if it was a good place, my husband would take time off work, we'd arrange a 2nd visit, and go during daytime hours. I mean, if anything, so we could see how the home day care was run. Was it really so unreasonable for me to request what I did?
Can I get anything back this year on my taxes as far as day care goes or EIC when my income is through the VA.?

All my income is non taxable but my daycare has provided me with a form that states how much I payed in Daycare last year. Is it possible to get anything back when all of my income is non taxed.
How much should I charge for a Day Care over the summer?
My friend is 13 and I am 12. This summer we are running a day care at my friend's house for kids between the ages of 4 and 7. She lives in a gated community and has a fairly big house. Neither of us are CPR certified but we will have an adult at the house the entire time. My friend is thinking between $200 and $250 per week but I think it should be way less. Help?
