Would anyone here to know a rough ballpark figure for the total tax bill for an average small business if you considered all taxes the business has to pay as a percent of revenue?Would you know what that percentage would be if you included income taxes employees paid?
I'm a 17-year old College student and would like to start up an EBay business small and grow it big?
I'm 17, and I go to College. I'm fed up with sitting at a desk and find it torture having to do so. I enjoy the thrill of success making money and because of this I'd like to start an EBay business. I've bought books on the subject and I think nows the time to start. I would like to start in my bedroom with my Laptop and my few thousand in savings. I want to try and grow the business from small and in time duplicate it into my own big million pound merchandise, and at the very least make a decent living out of it. Where do you suggest I start at?Please help for best answer.
Opening a business/small shop?
My partner and I were thinking of doing this in a year or so, when the financial side of things has hopefully picked up a bit.Anyway we would be selling new age, witchy & pagan things,joss sticks, candles, tarot cards that kind of thing.I have some limited retail experience, but what are the main things we need to know to do this.? what essential things should we be aware of when taking it further?We don't expect to make millions but to make a living for us both would be good.

I used to work at a restaurant. They were losing a lot of money by making a lot of stupid mistakes. I thought that if I were in charge, I would be able to increase the total profit by 50000 dollars annually. If I had the cash, then, would it make sense for me to buy the restaurant, increase the annual profit by 50,000 dollars, then sell it for a higher price, gaining an approximately 130000 dollar profit? I'm an architect, and since the economy slowed down, I've been looking into buying a practice for job security reasons. Most go for about $1mill, but I've been wondering how these loans work. How do the banks choose how much money they are willing to give you, and what are their terms usually.
How important is a website for business (small, local)? How do you get one started?
My husband and his friend co worker are taking over a business from the co worker's parents they are retiring age health and the business is very successful. There is zero overhead, locally owned and operated, it's a automotive shop. My husband is the operating manager and his friend is now the owner. The friend's parents are not too much in to technology so the business has no website. I think that the business should have a website showing their hours, locations currently 2 shops with plans to open 2 more in the next 5 7 years , updated plans for the future when the new shops are getting ready to open where when what all services they provide, positive comments, local business awards, pictures, etc. How do they go about starting a website and does it really make that much of a difference in terms of bringing in more business? To me it seems like it would I generally research all businesses that I don't know much about. Is this a good marketing technique? If so, how do we get a website up and running? Are they costly? Could I be the one that maintains the site I am very good with computers technology and I enjoy it or do we have to hire someone? Any ideas on this???
When doing taxes for home business/small business...?
why does putting in expenses such as bills, milage, meals, etc lower your return amount? I thought you were suppose to be able to write that off, meaning you'd be reimbursed for it? I know you have to do the time space %, etc, I'm just unclear why expenses causes my refund amount to go down?I don't enter anything quarterly. I have a daycare out of my home. So I get to use a % of my bills, etc to write off as daycare expenses, but none of it turns out to be a " write off" . If I don't put expenses on my taxes, I get more back than if I do. I've went over it & can't see anything wrong, nor does turbo tax show anything of concern when it checks it. I do the home & business one, & go step by step. H& R did it last year, and I think the same thing happened.
