How much can i charge for small business consulting?
I'm expanding my marketing business to offer consulting for cost cutting to businesses. How much can i charge?basically i would review their sales, marketing strategy, financials, etc do research and come up with ways they could cut costs in every category.i had an idea for a guarantee where they would be guaranteed savings of at least 3x my fee for small businesses, 5x for medium size and 10x for large over a 10 year span but i still don't know what a reasonable fee for this is? do i charge per hour? i'm affraid if i do that i'll run into complaints as i don't have a big brand name and most people don't understand how much time this actually takes.any advice?

I hoping to start a small business consulting firm that specializes in technology, marketing, and similar services. I don't have any formal education, but I'm about to start business school, and I have worked in my aunt's small business for several years. I've helped her grow a lot and she suggested I give helping others a shot. I just graduated with a bachelors in business admin. I want to work in the business consulting field...preferably strategic consulting. I've applied to 5 of the leading consulting firms in the U.S., but unfortunately haven't had any responses to my applications. While I have graduated from one of the top 25 business colleges in the nation, I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps I'm being a little overly ambitions to get a consulting job with only an undergrad degree. Here are my questions 1 Should I head back to school to get an MBA? 2 Would working as just a " pencil pusher" for a year, prior to applying to a consulting job, be a better idea then just shooting for a consulting job right out of school?3 Any suggestions on a good consulting firm to apply to? I'm not particularly interested in any one sector at this point in time, but if I had to choose I would have to pick, marketing. Any other suggestions or feedback would be more than welcome. Thanks.

I have my MBA and am trying to figure out what to do with it. I love research, training, and teaching. I enjoy helping people. My favorite part of past jobs have been human resourses, training, and administrative work. I have enjoyed creating manuals, forms, and policys. I have considered becoming a virtual assistant, a teacher, and running a cleaning business, but am looking for other reasonable ideas. I do not want a 9 5 " go to work" job, but I would be happy to put in many hours at home.
