Should I take a $50K/yr Web Engineer job if I have a B.S. and 5 years of experience + 4 years of Java?
I've been negotiating my salary with a company for a web engineer position for a while and they absolutely won't budge from offering me a $50K year salary and weak benefits. This position is all front end work, has no Java, and doesn't utilize a security clearance. Meanwhile, I possess these qualifications 5 years experience 4 years with Java B.S. 3.96 GPA Secret security clearanceMy last position ended in 2010, and I have simply attended school full time since. Therefore, most employers simply view me as a college graduate and neglect my 5 years of experience. I also live in South Florida which isn't huge on Tech and DoD is practically non existent, so the career search has been really hard.I have no other offers or even interviews on the table right now. I'd really like to start working now, get my foot in the door, and getting more experience. I don't mind earning $50K for a short time, however I feel like I might be committing some kind of career suicide, by accepting a low salary and not continuing my Java experience.Should I take this job, or am I better off starting from scratch?It's a no contract, " at will" employment. Full time 40hrs a week or so
